He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Cook (Cox) of Vansant, VA and Regina Scalf (Cox) of Lebanon, VA; and his siblings, Geraldine Kinder (Cox) of Rural Retreat, VA, Barbara Skeens (Cox) of Tazewell, VA and Virgil Cox of Rome, GA.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
