He was predeceased by: his wife Claudia Cyrus Carter; and his mother Elizabeth Jennings Handy. He is survived by: his daughters, Amy C. St. John (David) of Gladys and Kelly L. Carter of Brookneal; his grandchildren, Devin, Ryan St. John and Aaron Maddox; and his siblings, Debra Vaughan (David) of Brookneal, Randy Handy (Cheryl) of Gladys, Sammy Handy of Evington and Brenda Johnson (Sandy) of Brookneal.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Brookneal Baptist Church (304 Wickliffe Rd, Brookneal, VA 24528). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, December 29th 2024 at the Wickliffe Cemetery.
