He was predeceased by: his parents, Glover Davenport Gilliam, Sr. and Russie Turner Gilliam; his son Walter Dale Gilliam; and his daughter-in-law Tammy Gilliam. He is survived by: his wife Kate Hines Gilliam; his children, Kathy Collins (Ronnie) of Brookneal, Paula Worsham (Bobby) of Gladys and Garry P. Gilliam (Robin) of Rustburg; his grandchildren, Amanda Brown (Chris), Jessica Haney (Chad), Kevin Worsham, Casey Nelson (Brian), Ivan Gilliam (Taylor), Clinton Gilliam and Max Gilliam (Kari); and his brother G. D. Gilliam, Jr. (Frances Anne) of Concord. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
