He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Jones Burns and Eunice Mae Cheatham Burns; and his siblings, Stella Hamilton, Jesse and Johnny Burns.
He is survived by: his daughter Lynda Burns of Radford; his siblings, Matthew O. Johnson II of Kona, David Burns of Campbell County, Michael Burns of Lynchburg, Yolanda Burns of Brookneal, Marilyn Hartman of Appomattox, Synethia Elliott of Roanoke and Damaris Elliott of Lynchburg; his siblings-in-law, Peggy Burns of Naruna and Ken Hamilton of Lynchburg; and his aunt Mary Elizabeth Elliott of Concord. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
