He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Wilson Pernell and Audrey Cordon Clarke Pernell; and his daughters, Pamela Solomon and Sandra Pernell. He is survived by: his wife Susan Jean Pernell; his children, Susan Ann Clark, Susette Jeanette Clark, Peggy Sue Pernell and Richard Earle Pernell, Jr. (Jessica Ellen Pernell); and his brothers, David Pernell (Connie) and Stewart Pernell (Lottie). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
