He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward "Chief" and Evelyn Johnson Veney; and his siblings, Jerry, Charles, Richard, Steve, Bill Veney and Elizabeth Frye.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his sons, Kevin Rush (Kim) of Broadway, Josh Veney (Missy) of Timberville and J. D. Veney of Broadway; his siblings, Ronald Veney (Vicky) of Luray, Tony "Scratchy" Veney of New Market, Leonard Veney (JoLynn) of Quicksburg, Larry "Huggy" Veney of New Market, Patsy Brown (Larmont) of Middletown, Diane Whitley of Harrisonburg and Charlene Good (John) of Woodstock; and his uncle Bobby Johnson (Judy) of Luray. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
