He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Walter and Phoebe Odessa Smith Pitts; his siblings, Tom Pitts and Maxine Stewart; and his grandson Walt Carrier.
He is survived by: his children, Joan Good (Ron) of Broadway, Charisse Cordero (Michael) of Carpinteria, CA and Louis Emerson Pitts of Greensboro, NC; and his sister Ruth Pitts of Winston Salem, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
