He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Whaley and Zelma Whaley of Sevierville, TN; and his brother Rex Whaley of Greenville, TN.. He is survived by: his wife Mary-Alice; his children, Steve Whaley (Kim) and Terry Gay (W. S.); his grandchildren, Jeremy Whaley, Jessi Whaley, Megan Deem (Daniel) and Courtney Gay; his siblings, Betty Jo Ledford (Delmus) of Knoxville, TN, Mary Ruth Lambrecht of Knoxville, TN, Clara Whaley (Wendell) of Cleveland, TN and Ronnie Whaley (Virginia) of Hickory, NC; and his sister-in-law Marcia Whaley of Greenville, TN. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for a donation to Friendship United Methodist Church or to the National Park Foundation at nationalparks.org which helps to support all the parks he loved to visit.
