He was predeceased by: his father Reverend Richard O. Buchanan; his brother Preston Paul Buchanan; and his sister-in-law Patricia Yap Buchanan. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Simmons; his sons, William R, Tim Buchanan (Susan) and Ben Buchanan; his grandchildren, Andrew Buchanan (Skylar) and Allison Buchanan; his brother Richard Oliver Buchanan Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; his niece Patricia "Patty" Takebayaski (Darrel); and also Teresa Strock (Sharon Dixon). He is also survived by other nephews and extended family.
