She was predeceased by: her parents, Ballard Pearson, Sr. and Lottie H. Lee; her husband James Otis Payne; and her siblings, Lincoln Lee, Ballard Lee, Jr., Thomas Lee, Robert Lee, Carrie Lee, Mary Charles Foote and Shirley Worley.

She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Raphael Cansler (Willie), Valerie Fugate, Charlotte Cansler-Stanton and Denise Wagner (Lee); her grandchildren, Coretta Morton, Christopher (Adrienne Cansler), Michael (Desmond Fugate), Allegera Stanton and Bryan (Aleah Wagner); her great grandchildren, Aisha Morton, Chris, Caleb and Makaila Wagner; and her sisters-in-law, Era and Jeannie Lee. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
