He was predeceased by: his wife Ann Whitten Gillenwater; his sister Joyce Mottern; and his parents, Jay Gillenwater and Ann Gillenwater. He is survived by: his children, Kenan Gillenwater and J. J. Gillenwater (Stephanie); and his granddaughter Whitten Gillenwater.
