It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janice Grimsley Smith Flanary of Bristol, Virginia, who passed away on September 14, 2021, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Violet Sanders Grimsley McNew and James Baker Grimsley of Bristol, Virginia.; her husband Ezra Flanary; her brother Richard Grimsley of Marietta, Georgia.; her siblings-in-law, Janet Grimsley of Marietta and Samuel Smith of Knoxville; her daughters, Kimberly Smith (Christine Cross) of Johnson City, Sandra O'Ferrall of Piney Flats and Wendy Ragan (Jeff) of Bluff City; her grandchildren, Daly O'Ferrall of Piney Flats, Kerry O'Ferrall Justice (Michael) of Kingsport, Joshua Ragan (Kaitlin) of Casper and Konner Smith Street (Seth) of Johnson City; her great grandchild Violet Justice; and her pet Mindy.
The family has asked that guests adhere to Covid-19 precautions and wear a mask at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Freedom Baptist Church, 1536 Independence Ave, Mt Carmel, Tn. 37645 or to Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc., 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tn. 37919.
