With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Thompson of Bristol, Virginia, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 17, 2021 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Thompson, Sr. and Mary Thompson of Bristol; and his sister Amy Johnson of Charlotte. He is survived by: his wife Janet Thompson; his children, Lindsay Heitman (Brice) of Winston-Salem, James Thompson, Jr. (Alondra) of Greenbelt and Bradley Thompson (Mary Henry) of Memphis; his brother Raymond Thompson, Jr. (Jacqueline) of East Amherst; his grandchildren, Neely, Kellen Thompson of Memphis and Leah Heitman of Winston-Salem; and his pet Tucker. He is also survived by his nine nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
