He was predeceased by: his father Leon K. Tate, Sr.; his daughter Donna Carol Tate; his siblings, Carolyn Kimberlin and Leon Tate, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Patricia Tate.
He is survived by: his wife Lovada Taylor Tate; his children, Michael D. Tate (Tiffany) of South Carolina and Sharon M. Doherty (Patrick) of Blountville, TN; his brother Larry James "Jim" Tate (Jan) of Bristol, TN; and his grandchildren, Callie, Reese, Austin, Macey Tate, Ethan, Gavin and Emmerson Doherty.
