He is survived by: his wife Rosa Gilliam; his children, Daniel Burton Gilliam Jr. (Shellie) and Courtney Danielle Peterson (Jol); his grandchildren, Brandon (Brittany), Tanner, Peyton, Jolson, Braxton, Harper and Lennox; his great grandchild Bailey; his siblings, Michael Edward Gilliam (Diane), Gary Gilliam (Tracey), Douglas Gilliam (Kyle), Sonia Salyer (Gary), Ronald Gilliam, Allen Gilliam, Terrance Gilliam and Regina Traber; and his sisters-in-law, Anna Flanary and Alice Barnette. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
