With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carolyn Stophel Murray (Bristol, Virginia), who passed away on September 26, 2021 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Rev. Glen Murray; her son Thomas G. Murray; her brothers, George L. Stophel, Jr., Glen Preston Stophel and Gordon Franklin Stophel; and her parents, Mary Rachel Burke Stophel and George L. Stophel.
She is survived by: her brother Harold E. Stophel of Banner Elk, NC; her nieces and nephews, Diana Brisendine of Alabama, Sheila S. Umberger of Roanoke, Jerry Stophel (Ann) and Franklin Stophel (Laurie); and her great-nieces, Jessica and Brooke. She is also survived by five grandchildren; one great grandchild; many nieces, and nephews, and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Flowers welcome or memorial donations may be sent to Euclid Avenue Baptist Church or East Bristol Baptist Church.
