He was predeceased by: his parents, Myra Alice (Mitchell) and William Luther Simmons; his siblings, Leota Willson, Frances "Sis" Oland, Norman Simmons and Stelman "Gabe" Simmons; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Willson, Edwin Oland, Robert "Bob" Willett and JoAnn Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Annie Simmons (Rexrode); his children, Shelby Simmons of Bridgewater and Jeffrey Simmons (Audrey) of Dayton; his siblings, Doris Willett of Merritt Island, FL, Peggy Renner (William) of Funkstown, MD and Herman Simmons of Hinton; and his granddaughter Brittany Simmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
