He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcus Hunter and Ethel Grey Clarke Roberts; his former wife Phyllis Ritchie Roberts; his wife Betty Jo Vance Roberts; and his siblings, Reitta Roberts Rodgers and Jack Roberts.

He is survived by: his brothers, William "Billy" Roberts and H. "Sam" Roberts; and his mother-in-law Frances Ritchie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
