He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Gilkerson (Ward) and William LaVeran Gilkerson; and his siblings, William "Bill" Gilkerson and JoAnne E. Gilkerson. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Gilkerson (Lohr); his son Greg Gilkerson (Amy) of Mt. Crawford; and his granddaughter Mellanee Gilkerson.
