He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold H. Showalter and Melva R. Showalter (Rhodes); and his grandson Ethan Neil Hoover. He is survived by: his wife Eva M. Showalter (Martin); his children, Rodney Allen Showalter (Nancy) of Dayton, Gloria Dawn Wenger (Eber) of Singers Glen, Cheryl Ann Hoover (Neil) of Leola, PA, Connie Sue Rhodes (Bill) of Dayton, Randy Wayne Showalter (Kimberly) of Mt. Solon and Janessa Faye Campbell (Sherwin Campbell) of Mt. Solon; and his siblings, Linda Nolt (Leroy) of Dayton, Martha Martin (Dave) of Dayton, Wilda Wenger (Sheldon) of Bridgewater and Ron Showalter (Marie) of Dayton. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, two great granddaughters.
