She was predeceased by: her father Joseph Booker Alexander; her husband Richard Lewis; her siblings, Booker, Robert, James, Howard, Alice, Betty Lou and Annie Lee; and her nephew Keith.

She is survived by: her son Joseph Alexander (Carolyn); her sisters, Ruth Carrington (Leon) and Adeline Alexander; her nieces and nephews, Felicia Carrington Wilburn, Thelma Baskerville, Elizabeth Morse, Patricia Adams, Yvonne Alexander, Howard Alexander Jr., Robert Alexander, James Alexander, Arthur Alexander, Tyrone Alexander and Dan Alexander; her great-niece Niya Scott; and her cousin Mary (Kenneth Odom).
