He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Lila Mae Smith of Boykins, Virginia.. He is survived by: his wife Martha Grace Hardy of Washington; his children, Alice Hardy Mitchell (Kevin Lee Mitchell) of Washington and William Brian (Jennifer Lee Davis) of Washington; his granddaughter Grace Ann Mitchell of Richmond; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth of Boykins and Martha Ann Wright (Robert Wright) of Chesapeake, Virginia.; and his sisters-in-law, Alice Hardy Payne of Auburn, Ala and Kathryn Mayo Hardy of Selma, Ala. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
