He was predeceased by: his parents, James Berkley Harris and Bertha Agnes Harris; and his daughter Mary Gayle Harris. He is survived by: his wife Louise Lewis Harris; his sons, Harold T. "Tom" Harris, Jr. (Gail) and Michael L. Harris (Theresa); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris, Michelle Lenhart (Zach), Christina Harris and Timothy Harris; his great grandchildren, Paul and Jude Lenhart; and his siblings, Laverne Cauthorne and William P. Burton, Jr..
