He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry L. Johnson and Estelle Baylor Johnson; his daughter Melissa "Missy" Louise Toliver; and his sisters, Gertrude Johnson and Everdene Foxx Wiley.
He is survived by: his friend Bobby Snipes; his daughter Monica James (Rodney); his sisters, Essie Belle Thomas, Thelma Teen Thomas, Arlene Fox of Virginia, Rose Etta Hale and Estelle Marie Goodall; his niece Felicia Goodall; and also, Marvin Toliver, Horace Mines (Priscilla) and Jessie Leon Johnson. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
