He was predeceased by: his father Benjamin Self. He is survived by: his wife Kathi May Self; his daughters, Karen Self Crosby (Kyle) and Stephanie Self Kerr (Robert); his adoptive daughter Lisa Hilchey (Erik); his granddaughters, Brianna Crosby and Brooklyn Kerr; and his sister Annie Monroe. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Gene to the Caroline Humane Society.
