He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Saunders and Carrie M. Saunders; and his siblings, Shirley Foxx, Bernard and Joseph Saunders II.
He is survived by: his children, Marshawn Thompson, Brittney Saunders, Malik Temple and Destiny Simon; his grandchildren, Marley Haynes and Nyla Saunders; his brothers, James and Alonzo, Sr.; his nephews, Joseph Saunders Jr., Alonzo Saunders Jr., Melvin Foxx Jr. and Domonique Saunders; his niece Treva Saunders; and his godchild Sharnae Little.
