He is survived by: his wife Sharon Smith Peterson; his children, Mary Canady of Middleburg, VA, Janis Cannady (Steve) of Clinton, MD, James G. Peterson of Bluemont, VA, William Spiller (Nikki) of Lake Frederick, VA and Reginald Ross of Arlington, VA; his daughter-in-law Celeste Peterson (late Grafton) of Centreville, VA; and his siblings, Axie Johnson of Fort Washington, MD, Gloria Green of Temple Hills, MD, Ellen Brewer (Howard) of Silver Spring, MD, Garner Peterson of Washington, DC and Joe Peterson (Bennie) of Columbus, GA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchilden; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
