He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward David Zurschmeide and Mary Leona Banet Zurschmeide; and his sister Linda Huber. He is survived by: his wife Faye Margaret Horlander; his children, Deborah Schoeb (Bill), Mark Zurschmeide (Kate), Pam Hammer (Dennis), Diane Taylor (Ray), Bruce Zurschmeide (Janell) and Steven Zurschmeide (Kim); his sister Carol Koetter (Jim) of Starlight, IN; and his brother-in-law Carl Huber Sr. of Starlight, IN.
