He was predeceased by: his parents, Myron Thomas and Marjorie Thomas; his sister Trish; and his brother-in-law Tom Hohman of Rockville, Maryland.. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his sons, Christopher Thomas (Julie) and Andrew Bowman-Thomas (Lauren); his stepdaughters, Anna Main (Peter Shanley) and Katherine "Kate" Carman (Jeremy); and his grandchildren, Josephine, Samuel Thomas, Mason, Eva Brodsky, Theo Shanley, Vincent, Clive Carman and Juniper Bowman-Thomas.
