She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman James Smith and Eva Mae Poland Smith; and her husband John Carter, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, John Allen of Bluemont, VA, William "Billy" Franklin of West Virginia, Steven Burton of Florida, Sharon Ann of Leesburg, VA and Debra Jean of West Virginia; her siblings, Frances Gill of Middletown, VA and Norman "Sonny" Smith of Winchester, VA; her sister-in-law Bonnie Sue Smith; her grandchildren, Jeff, Michael, Tosha, Devon, Karen, Denise and Jeremy; and her great grandchildren, Cara, Samantha, Lane, Jacob, Dalton, Trey and Jordan.
