She was predeceased by: her parents, Bud Carroll and Edith Smallwood Carroll Lafollette. She is survived by: her husband James "Doodle" Clayton Shepherd; her children, Sherry Goelich, Theresa Pierce of Berryville, VA, Angie Michael of White Post, VA, Terry Carroll of Madison, MS and James Allen Shepherd of Bluemont, VA; her siblings, Mary Messner of Fredericksburg, VA and Jerry Lafollette of Winchester, VA; and her children, Penny Jenkins and Robert Shepherd. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
