He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Louise (Pence) and Luther Compton Simmons; and his siblings, Nancy S. Swecker, Charlotte Schooler, Kenton, Luther C. and Eugene "Douglas" Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean of Blue Grass; his children, Elizabeth "Liz" Varner (Edward "Eddie") of Stuarts Draft, Wilton Simmons (Tammy) of Blue Grass and Stu Simmons (Ginger Morgan) of Blue Grass; his grandchildren, Wendy Ware (Anthony) of Buckhannon, W. V, Russell Varner of Stuarts Draft and Tyler Arbaugh of Blue Grass; and his great grandchild Victoria Harmon of Buckhannon, W. V. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
