He was predeceased by: his parents, Prentiss James Ayres, Sr. and Lelia Mall Taylor Ayres; his sisters, Dorothy Taylor (Tommy) and Jeanette Thornes (Johnny); and his brother-in-law Herbert Thornes.
He is survived by: his close friend Tommy Owens; his wife Linda Taylor Ayres; his son Bobby Lee Ayres (Jennifer) of Las Vegas, NV; his siblings, Kenneth "Kenny" Ayres (Beverly) of Bloxom and June Faye Thornes of Bloxom; his grandchildren, James C. Ayres (Sheri) of Las Vegas and Jennifer L. Ayres of Las Vegas; his great grandchildren, Samuel James Ayres, Olivia Leigh Ayres and Kaesynn Rhea Lewis; his nephews, Larry Wayne Hart (Pam), Kenneth "Ken" Ayres (Nicole) and Douglas Thornes; his niece Candace "Candy" Parks (Ray); his son Caleb; his child-in-law Lynn Gagliardi (Vince); his granddaughters, Alisha and Samantha; his great-nephew Will Hart (Caitlin); and also Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Junior's memory may be made to St. Thomas United Methodist Church, 25460 Shoremain Drive, Bloxom, VA 23308.
