He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Houston and Ethel Myers Burton; his son Richard Fred Burton; his grandson Justin Edward Burton; and his sisters, Margie Burton and Dimple Louise Faulkner.

He is survived by: his children, Kevin Burton, Connie Burton Fowble, Tammy (David Lorenz) and RaeEllen (Chuck Egan); his grandchildren, Shianne, Garrett, Cori, Brad Case, Sarah, David Lee, Jacob and Elsie Burton; and his great grandchildren, Colton, Brantley, Axel, Maxwell and Zachary.
