He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Melvin Morehead; his son David Jr.; his daughter-in-law Barbara Morehead; his grandchildren, Justin Morehead, Amanda and Ryan Havens; and his nieces and nephews, Charlotte Meadows, Nancy Sink, William Caldwell, Rusty Meadows and Leon Sink II.
