He is survived by: his daughter Sydney Holmes Dowdy of Wise County, Virginia; his brothers, Gregory Dowdy (Denise) of Pembroke and Jay Dowdy (Carolyn) of Dugspur, VA; and his sister-in-law Cathy Dowdy of Newport, VA. He is also survived by three nephews.
