He was predeceased by: his sisters, Evangeline Berryhill of Garner, N. C. and Frances Hinson of Lincolnton, N. C. He is survived by: his parents, Loy Beam and Brenda Dellinger Beam; his wife Margaret Jefferson Beam; his daughters, Linda B. Abernathy (Paul) of Stanley, N. C., Teresa B. Winslow (Claren) of Caldwell and Janet B. Mullis (Don) of Alexis, N. C.; and his stepsons, Kenneth D. Fitzgerald (Deborah) of Blairs and Glenn Scott Fitzgerald (Pilar) of Reno. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
