He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ellen Fuston Lavinder; his daughter Robin Lavinder Lester (David) of Danville, VA; his stepchildren, Jennifer Susan Bragden (Brett) of Richmond, KY and Peter Christopher Sunde of Valpariso, FL; his grandchildren, Conner David Lester of Danville, VA, Erica Jade Lester Olinares (Bohdan) of Leesburg, VA and Chase Dillon Lavinder of Altavista, VA; and his stepgrandsons, Tony Benjamin Bragden of Richmond, KY. and Nicholas Bragden of Richmond, KY..
