He was predeceased by: his parents, Benny Thompson and Macie Tomlinson; and his siblings, Hazel Bowen and Clyde Tomlinson. He is survived by: his wife Eva Ella Tomlinson of Blackwater, VA; his daughter Katie Chapman (Ray) of Blackwater, VA; and his granddaughter Katelyn Chapman of Blackwater, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
