She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence R. Poindexter and Ruby Pearl Hart Poindexter; and her granddaughter Joy N. Burns. She is survived by: her husband Samuel E. Childress, Sr.; her sons, Samuel E. Childress, Jr. (Chris) of Church Road and Steve Childress (Angie) of Amelia; and her grandchildren, Julia Childress (Carlson), Samuel E. Childress III, Joseph L. Burns V, Ryan Warden (Mandy), David Warden and Bonnie Keener (Eric). She is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
