He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Dowdy and Minnie Cooper Dowdy; his son Robert Dowdy; his granddaughter-in-law Bonnie Dowdy; and his brother Billy Dowdy.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Dowdy; his daughter Fay; his son-in-law Maynard Quesenberry; his grandchildren, Mitch Dowdy and Angela Griffith (Eric); his great grandchildren, Lauren Hughes (Justin), Austin Dowdy (Clara) and Briana Griffith; and his great great grandchildren, Addilyn Rose and Owen.
