She was predeceased by: her parents, John Stanley and Maude Shackelford Dawson; her siblings, Binford Dawson, Agnes D. Joyner, Marian Hampton and Harriet Dawson; and her great-nephew Donald Joyner, Jr..
She is survived by: her niece Melanie Buchholtz (Brian); and her great-nephew Patrick Joyner (Rhonda). She is also survived by five great, great nieces and five great, great nephews.
