He was predeceased by: his parents, John Payne and Mary Helen Payne; and his brother-in-law Mack Compton (Whitey). He is survived by: his children, John Payne and Amanda McBride; his granddaughters, Dolly and Annie; his stepdaughter Rhianon Growney; his stepgrandsons, Owen and Foster; his sister Mary Page Compton; his nephew Allen Compton; his niece Lorie Walker; and also, Dana Payne, Edna Collins (Kitty), Debbie Wallace and Doug Hungate.
