He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leon Parrish and Evelyn Parrish (Moore); his wife Janette Gass; his sons, Joe (Angela) and Nathan (Honorine); his grandchildren, Carter, Tyler and Evelyn; and his brothers, Donald and Thomas.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from ETSU, he received a National Science Foundation grant for graduate work at Wake Forrest University.
