She was predeceased by: her parents, Roland Ballard and Mabel Ballard (Copeland); her husband Ralph Simpkins; her grandson Michael Perry; and her brothers, Paul, Thomas, Dewey and John.
She is survived by: her children, Charles Simpkins and Hilda Roberts (Simpkins) of Blacksburg; her son-in-law Tal Roberts of Christiansburg; her grandson David Perry (Kelly); her great grandchildren, Kevin, Seth Perry of Roanoke and Jonathan Roberts (Kristin McCord) of Christiansburg; her sister Elizabeth Hall (Ballard) of Union; and her sister-in-law Madilyn Ballard of Greenville. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their children.
