He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton E Holmes and Alyce Hahn Holmes. He is survived by: his wife Josephine Halstead; and his children, Velecia Roth of Fort Wayne, Anna Aquino of San Francisco, Clayton (Chris) of Fluvanna County, Leroy (Kim) of Blacksburg, Harry (Margaret) of Blacksburg and James (Rhonda) of Blacksburg, Virginia. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
