It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Ray Rutherford of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, born in Appalachia, Virginia, who passed away on January 8, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin B Rutherford and Georgia Carroll Rutherford; his brothers, Calvin and Robert Rutherford; and his grandparents, Lilly and Sturm Carroll.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Collins Rutherford; his siblings-in-law, Alvin Collins, George Collins Jr. (Shirley), Kaye Parrot Mullins (Danny) and Faye Collins; his brother Tom Carroll (Sharon); his children, Mike Rutherford, Shannon Rutherford (Amanda) and Sheena Rutherford Farmer (Chris); and his sisters, Linda Bullock (Chuck), Betty Snodgrass (Bruce), Ann Austin (Doug), Imogene Sharrett and Josephine Grubb. He is also survived by 4 grandsons, one great grandson and one granddaughter.
