He was predeceased by: his parents, John Byers and Daisy Byers; and his sister Beverly Buchanan. He is survived by: his wife Darnell; his daughters, Julie Baty (Herb) and Selena Phillips (Kevin); his grandchildren, Sydney, Carter and Allie Phillips; his siblings, Benny Byers, Gary Byers (Sherry) and Valerie Tomlinson (Glenn); his brothers-in-law, Brad Buchanan and Dennis Turpin (Sheila); and his pet Bodee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hunting Creek Baptist Church designated for Operation Christmas Child.
