He was predeceased by: his father John H. Swain Sr.; his son James F. Moffett (Donna); and his brothers, John H Swain Jr. and George D. Swain. He is survived by: his wife Retta Sue Swain (Hammonds); his daughter Victoria Surface (Rick); his grandsons, Andrew Surface (April), James and Eric; and his sister Katy Perryman.
