She was predeceased by: her husband George Edward Smith; her sons, Ray and Wayne; her grandsons, Wesley and James; her daughter-in-law Jane; her brother Berry Overstreet; and her parents, Delbert Overstreet and Alice Barker Overstreet of Huddleston, VA..

She is survived by: her children, Lois Borough, Ruby Dooley (Tim) of Bedford, Joyce Witt (Gary) of Forest, Nathan (Teresa) of Bedford, Ronnie (Becky) of Roanoke and Roger "Pete" (Vickie) of Rocky Mount; and her sister Wilma Noell of Bedford. She is also survived by twenty grand children and twenty-four great grand children.
